Respite Care and Vacationing During Summer
Traveling Safety for Caregivers and Their Loved Ones
Respite care provides temporary relief for primary caregivers of elderly family members. Whether it is just a day or two, or several weeks, it allows the peace of mind for caregivers to travel knowing that their loved ones are safely being cared for.

Did you know that respite care can take place in your home? Well trained and highly compassionate caregivers can help assist with:
Bathing
Dressing
Medications
Companionship
Light house keeping
Traveling to and from appointments
Knowing that your loved one is safe and being taken care of by the most trusted caregivers in the industry will allow you to truly relax and enjoy your much needed vacation!
How about your health and well-being while you travel? You want to make sure you are following health guidelines so as not to bring any illnesses back home to your elderly dependents. The CDC recommends the following for travel within the U.S.:
Check travel restrictions before you go.
Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when in public settings. Masks are required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet/2 meters (about 2 arm lengths) from anyone who did not travel with you. It’s important to do this everywhere — both indoors and outdoors.
Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol).
Bring extra supplies, such as masks and hand sanitizer.
Avoid contact with anyone who is sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Also, consider traveling to vacation spots that will not be overly crowded. Air BNB’s and private cabin rentals may be a safer alternative to hotels and resorts. Travel only with those you live with and try to avoid large crowds. You can also consider driving instead of flying.
So, as Spring is here, carefully plan your vacation to be safe, while also having the ease of mind that your loved ones are also safe and happy at home with OUR respite caregiver.
